Lisa Edvardsen Haugan is President of Kongsberg Maritime, the largest business area within Norway’s technology group Kongsberg Gruppen. She is guiding the company’s broad portfolio of subsea sensors, autonomy, and robotics toward applications that enable responsible deep‑sea mineral development and reinforce Norway’s ambitions in the sector.

Educated in finance and management at the University of South‑Eastern Norway and BI Norwegian Business School, Haugan joined Kongsberg Gruppen in 2007. She advanced through senior roles that blended commercial oversight with systems‑engineering insight, including Managing Director of Kongsberg Evotec, Finance Director of Kongsberg Protech Systems, Executive Vice President of Deck Machinery and Motion Control, and Executive Vice President of Finance. She was announced as the next President of Kongsberg Maritime on October 3 2022, with the appointment taking effect on November 1 2022.

Drawing on that operational breadth, Haugan promotes an integrated strategy built around automation and control, integrated energy systems, and propulsion and handling. The wider Kongsberg Group invests about 2.7 billion Norwegian kroner each year in self‑funded research and development. Kongsberg Maritime technology is installed on more than thirty‑three thousand vessels worldwide.

Haugan has placed deep‑sea mining within this ocean‑space narrative. Kongsberg holds a 10 percent minority stake in Loke Marine Minerals and acts as its technology partner, supplying sensors and control systems for real‑time seabed monitoring that help operators make data‑driven decisions for sustainable mineral extraction.

Through sustained research investment, a strong brand in ocean robotics, and strategic collaboration with a leading Norwegian seabed‑mining venture, Haugan is positioning Kongsberg Maritime as a pivotal supplier to the next generation of subsea resource projects.
